EXPERIENCE

2020 to 2021

Helping the COVID Response

When the pandemic hit in March, I was asked by a family friend (physician) to investigate the manufacturing of intubation enclosures; a box to help protect doctors from infectious bodily fluids when performing intubation on COVID-19 positive patients.  I organized an engineer team to manufacture multiple prototypes, and helped secure grant funding to support the project.  My enclosure designs went to live-patient trials in April.

BERLINGUETTE RESEARCH GROUP

Lead Mechanical Project Engineer (P.Eng)

Worked with engineers, scientists, and post-doctoral researchers to manufacture custom high-throughput robotic components for the autonomous robotic platform “Project Ada.” Provided extensive development work with a partner collaborator company North Robotics. Met weekly with project stakeholders and to track project deliverables and conduct design reviews.  Managed 30+ design projects exclusively used Solidworks 2018/2019 Created high-resolution renders for use in grant submissions and conference use. Managed research department co-op students; regularly scheduled design review sessions, and worked on methodologies surrounding efficient design review discussions.

OXFORD BROOKES UNIVERSITY GRADUATE

Masters of Science in Motorsports Engineering

Graduation with Distinction

2013 to 2014

OXFORD BROOKES UNIVERSITY FSAE

Suspension / Drivetrain Component Design

Designed various components for the 2014 OBR drivetrain. Most notably the rear bulkhead for the vehicle, which ties in wishbone hard points as well as provides an engine mounting location. Designs and FEA completed in SolidWorks. Created a full dynamic model of the OBR 2014 vehicle in MSC Adams in order to justify spring / ARB selection. Responsibilities included overall vehicle setup, race engineering and damper tuning.  Competitions: FSUK Silverstone England 2014, FSG Hockenheim Germany 2014, FSC Czech Republic 2014.

ZODIAC HURRICANE TECHNOLOGIES

Marine Junior Design Engineer (EIT)

Assisted senior engineers in various marine military design projects. ISO 9001 standards adhered to for all projects. Responsible for misc. design projects from concept phase to final product, while working with shop tradesmen. Designed various boat / hull components in SolidWorks; all components managed by use of PDM works.

2009

UBC STRUCTURED SURFACE PHYSICS LAB

Junior Design Engineer (EIT)

Worked with researchers & senior engineers on a prototype solar canopy; a device that mounts to the side of a building and tracks light with a mirror array, and channels condensed light into building.  I went through the full design phase from concept, model scale, validation, through to full scale testing. All designs, GD&T drawings, and animations were completed in SolidWorks, and I was responsible for all model / full scale production.
