Description:

The robotic platform "Ada" is used to perform high throughout laboratory experiments.

This integrating sphere required a custom dock and assembly hardware to be used within out robot system. This device is used to take transmittance or reflectance measurements of samples (coated glass slides).

The main sphere (shown in blue) and power source/laser (black) was purchased from thorlabs. I designed the frame to contain the sphere (grey) and the transfer unit (clear) which supports the sphere, contains calibration equipment, and a variable lens filter. The transfer unit design was completed in Solidworks, and was manufactured by CNC (I provided GD&T drawings). The challenge was to make this assembly compact, so it could fit on our robotic platform with a limited footprint (space is limited).
